CASE STUDY

End of Lease Remediation & Waste Stream Optimisation

Fremantle Resource Solutions (FRS)
Overview

The FRS Solution

Fremantle Resource Solutions developed a highly coordinated remediation and waste optimisation strategy focused on continuous workflow and real time waste segregation.
Using large excavators, hook lift trucks and multiple onsite bins, FRS established a system that allowed waste streams to be separated immediately during excavation, rather than after removal, reducing double handling and total time spent on the job.

Key Operational Advantages

1

Continuous Excavation Operations

The excavator was able to remain operational throughout the project with virtually no downtime. As bins reach capacity, hook lift trucks exchanged them immediately allowing excavation works to continue uninterrupted while waste was simultaneously sorted and transported to the appropriate facilities.
2

Real Time Waste Segregation

Wate materials were separated onsite as they were excavated, significantly improving efficiency and double handling.
Dedicated bins were used simultaneously for

Controlled waste oils

Sand and old road base

General inert materials

Bitumen materials

Green waste

This enabled each material stream to be diverted to the correct licensed or recovery facility.
3

Optimised Logistics

FRS coordinated multiple transport movements and disposal pathways concurrently, ensuring waste stream, were managed efficiently without interrupting site productivity.
The hook life functionality was critical in maintaining momentum onsite, enabling rapid bin exchange while excavation activities continued.
4

Sustainability & Compliance

FRS prioritised environmentally responsible waste management throughout the project. Wherever possible, waste streams were diverted from landfill and directed towards recovery recycling or licensed disposal facilities.
Sustainable Outcomes Included

Segregation of recyclable and recoverable materials

Diversion of green waste from landfill where possible

Reduced double handling and unnecessary transport movements,

Controlled waste oils transported to licensed facilities

Appropriate classification and disposal of inert materials

This approach ensured both regulatory compliance and improved environmental outcomes for the client.

RESULTS

Despite the complexity of the mixed materials and multiple disposal pathways, FRS successfully completed the full remediation program within just two days.

Project Outcomes

Full removal of accumulated handstand materials including 300m3 of road-base.

Controlled waste disposed of through licensed facilities

Minimal operational downtime achieved

Site restored to required lease condition

Successful segregation of multiple waste streams onsite

Continuous excavation operations maintained

Sustainable diversion outcomes prioritised

Project completely safely, efficiently and on schedule.
